Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma - “Do the Astral Pane”
Music Monday!
There’s no way to talk about Flying Lotus without getting mad hippie about it. He’s like water, deep water - you wanna stare in, get swallowed whole, dive deep and get lost. His sounds are like the astral planes (dork), dark then light, effervescent, high, epic…uh??? His sound is massive, and it’s simultaneously personal. It’s your inner monologue played back at you. Those beats make your head bob, just the way hip hop should, but it doesn’t sound like anything typical or radio-dumb.

Steven Ellison better-known-as Flying Lotus has come a long way from Cartoon Network commercial breaks, that’s for sure. Everyone’s raving, I’m on it too - this new album is so enjoyable and unique.
M here with new tunez - “Year of Silence” by Crystal Castles
I am _horny_ for the new Crystal Castles album, sassily titled Crystal Castles, even though their first album is also self-titled.
“Year of Silence” is probably my favorite, along with “Baptism”.
I was able to catch Crystal Castles perform at the Echoplex. Surprise - CC friends/my favorite LA local band HEALTH opened for them, unannounced. No combo-band performance of “Crimewave”, sorry nerds. I have a feeling that both bands are sick of that request. However, the two bands performed their respective new material, which kind of made my head explode. SO AWESOME. HEALTH is currently recording at Trent Reznor’s house (!) with Alan Moulder as the record’s producer (!!!).
Owning this new full album by Crystal Castles rightthissecond has already made my week . The leak precipitated the digital release of the album, I’m sure - now it’s out on Friday, April 23rd.
