Black Breath // “Black Sin”
@TPOTR was a couple of weekends ago at the Echo/Echoplex, and holy shit, it was SO FUN. That mini-festival clued me into this band, who are now a new favorite. These guys totally kill it.

Pelican // “Embedding the Moss”
Not really punk but whatevs. EPIC SHOW TOMORROW AT POWER OF THE RIFF. Excite!

Brendon Small // “Metalocalypse Theme song”
Uh. I love this man. I love this show. I love this theme song.
I admit I watch this video often.
What?
Love guitars.

Holy Grail // “My Last Attack”
Wish I posted this sooner, but mfkn whatever, here it is, Holy Grail’s video for “My Last Attack”. LOVE these guys. Grew up with these dudes in Pasadena and now they’re all grown up and metal.
They are touring a lot, they are dominating Headbangers Ball on MTV and having a lot of fun while doing it. Check them out:

Baroness // “Swollen and Halo”
I’m working weird hours and weird days, I’m driving a lot of curvy roads in the dark in the dawn and in the dusk.
Last week, I drove up Topanga Canyon at 5am and drove down it at 9pm one day. Up the canyon with a giant mug of coffee, down the canyon at night with a shot of 5 Hour Energy (gross, kinda good, gross again, kind of totally effective).
Both ways, I played this song.
The canyon needed to hear this song. And so do you.

@bassnectar + Metallica - Holy frijoles this song’s nutso! Download, play, head bang, hit repeat!

Hi hi hi it’s M M M…
Oh shit, I made it to Music Monday! SUP!
Popped My Cherry Soda - here’s my first mix for Eastside Westside Podcast. DOOD! HELLO! This is actually part of a mix tape I made for someone, which is the best way to start a mix, I think. Shush, I’m sentimental!
Tracklist:
This mix betrays the fact that I really liked and I really like The Blood Brothers. What? They’re fucking great.
And the last song…well. Well! <3
The pleasure, the privilege, is mine,
Monica

HAHA FUCK YESSSS
DEP’s cover of “Wish” is fucking great, guys.
With The Dillinger Escape Plan.
M here, finally. A mix is next, but first a quick love letter to my favorite band of all time:
But here’s some adulation in a weird, different way.
I realized that some of my favorite newer bands are NIN-affiliates.
Example #1: The Dillinger Escape Plan
Even when I stray, I’m loyal.
They’ve performed with NIN, and currently are touring their new album Option Paralysis. It rules. So does this single, “Farewell Mona Lisa”.
I saw them live at the Glasshouse, and their new interactive light set-up reeks of NIN’s Lights in the Sky tour and stage design. Pretty awesome. Panels of LED lights behind drummer Billy Rhymer, pendant strobe/LED/sound-and-touch sensitive lights that hang above Ben Weinman, Greg Puciato, Jeff Tuttle and Liam Wilson. Flashing lights that pulse with every growl of distortion.
Yuh-um!
This band melts. my. face. off. whenever I see them live. The energy from these guys can level you and simultaneously drive you to jump deep into that mosh pit. Being an old bitch, I kept my distance from the pit for most of the time. What? I was wearing heels. Anyway. Even when you stand far back, looking at these guys onstage gives me the sensation that I’m staring into a glowing, nuclear, mushroom cloud that is inching towards my face.
And then I’m in love. And deaf for the next day, at least.
Love this band. Sop up their work with Mike Patton too, since nobody can shut up about that record and era of DEP. Shit’s good.
