I can’t stop repping this song. It’s so good. A late find in 2010 for me, but held up high.
B-Up’s to DJ Bumbaclot for handing this CMYK EP and the Klaiverwerke EP to me.
The song’s pretty good at matching the rainy status in LA right now.

Wavves - King of the Beach
Undeniably amazing. Second-hand review: Was chatting with Ryan this weekend about how much he loves this record and about the stage-diving fun at the show saying he “hasn’t seen that much moshing since the 90’s”. Dunno, thinking all this renewed hype might actually break this band wide open.

All Leather - “Dear Mother Nature, Drop Dead”
#MusicMonday, dudes. UNGH, I love this band. I love this band a whole lot.
All Leather is Justin Pearson (The Locust, Swing Kids, Some Girls, countless other rad bands), Nathan Joyner (Some Girls, Leg Lifters) and Jung Sing (Some Girls).
They’re noisy and sexy and angry and kinda homo. I got hooked on this band after hearing “I Don’t Hate Fags, God Does” off of their Hung Like a Horse EP last summer. I’ll post that video up sometime; Partizan produced it, there are furries and allusions to anal sex. AND there are tons of cute boys in it. Great. On Board. Into It.
All Leather’s LP, When I Grow Up, I Wanna Fuck Like a Girl, is out on Dim Mak Records now, along with the aforementioned EP, and the remix EP Hung Like a Donut. They also get a lot of attention through the Bloody Beetroots, who remixed the song “Mystery Meat” this past year, and that song is pretty rad.
This band plays electronic music with live instruments. Basically.
I’ve put All Leather songs into every mix I’ve done in the last year, because I LOVE THEM. I love them blindly. I’m not really sure how to describe it. I’m babbling right now. Anyway, they’re playing a couple of shows in LA in a week or so, and I’ll let you know how those go!

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma - “Do the Astral Pane”
Music Monday!
There’s no way to talk about Flying Lotus without getting mad hippie about it. He’s like water, deep water - you wanna stare in, get swallowed whole, dive deep and get lost. His sounds are like the astral planes (dork), dark then light, effervescent, high, epic…uh??? His sound is massive, and it’s simultaneously personal. It’s your inner monologue played back at you. Those beats make your head bob, just the way hip hop should, but it doesn’t sound like anything typical or radio-dumb.
Alright. Smoke trees, hear beatz? Sure!!!
Steven Ellison better-known-as Flying Lotus has come a long way from Cartoon Network commercial breaks, that’s for sure. Everyone’s raving, I’m on it too - this new album is so enjoyable and unique.
