Yuck // “The Wall”
#musicmonday
Yuck will play the Echo this Wednesday, April 13th, and the Satellite/Spaceland this Thursday, April 14th. Buncha Brits in Silverlake! Gonna be a hoot and a holler. They’re endearing and they sort of remind me of Sonic Youth. Good stuff.

Ty Segall // “My Sunshine”
Finally caught Ty Segall at @SpacelandLA last night, and so glad I did, even though I’ve been running On-Like-No-Sleep-You-Know for a minute. These kids are super fun on stage, they know their songs well, and they can get tired, sad bastards to sway and dance at midnight on a school night. Good Old Rock n’ Roll, for sure, for sure.

Local Natives - “Wide Eyes“
I’m obsessed with this song. It sounds like a secret admission of love and romance. Yeah. Like that. The boys’ voices just SEND me! The drums and percussion are crisp, and help carry your heart along with the song.
Yep. I’m a fan.
Local Natives is an LA-based band that’s been around, for like, ever. Ok, maybe for 5-6 years, and they used to be Cavil at Rest. This is one of those bands you always saw on the bill for shows at Spaceland and other small, cute, beloved venues in the eastside.
It’s really great to see them reach a high level of success. Their album, Gorilla Manor, came out earlier this year, and it’s amazing. They get compared to Vampire Weekend (BARF) and Fleet Foxes a lot, but I think they’re better than that noise. They’re still touring a bunch, and they play LA a lot! If you get a chance, see them live.
