Dum Dum Girls // “Coming Down”
I snoozed on posting this earlier! New track from DDG’s upcoming LP, Only In Dreams. I love Dee Dee’s introduction to the new track:
I won’t lie; it’s heart on sleeve.
Have you ever numbed yourself to avoid pain only to oscillate between the subconscious and conscious? Ever felt compelled to address Life itself?
Things can be so awful but at least they can also be bliss.
Hope you listen to the song and feel something.
XOXO
Dee Dee

MMIX 007 // E&W - DESERT MIX
A couple of months ago, I took off to the desert on my own for a few days. Here are the songs that kept me company, when it was just me, dust and stars. #emo
Take care and take your time.

Dum Dum Girls // “There is A Light That Never Goes Out” (The Smiths cover)
OKAY, I’m breaking a rule, but the He Gets Me High EP comes out March 1st, next Tuesday, so this post shall celebrate that.
This is one of my favorite songs by The Smiths. Dee Dee done good.
I guess this shall also be filed under Punk Fridays. Take it.
The pleasure, the privilege is mine,

Dum Dum Girls // “He Gets Me High”
New single from DDG! There’s a 90s girl band vibe to this song, no offense. Less fuzzy than the tracks off I Will Be, but still girl-group to the fore.
Details on the He Gets Me High EP coming out March 1st:
Dum Dum Girls are following up their fuzzy, girl group-inspired 2010 Sub Pop debut I Will Be with He Gets Me High, an EP composed of three originals and a cover of the swooning Smiths’ classic “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out.”Lead singer/songwriter Dee Dee, Richard Gotteher (who also worked on I Will Be and is best known for penning “My Boyfriend’s Back” and “I Want Candy”), and Sune Rose Wagner of the Raveonettes produced the EP.
Awesome. DDG puts on a pretty great live show, so it’ll be nice to see them tour again.

@dumdumgirls & @killcrocodiles // “Merry Christmas, Baby (Please Don’t Die)”
I posted this song on our Twitter a few days ago, yeah yeah yeah, it’s STILL great. I liked playing it all year and having old guys walk into my office all, “WTF, Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Die?! WHAT are you listening to?” Haha, old guys.
Dum Dum Girls return to LA tomorrow night with a show at the Echoplex! WITH Abe Vigoda, Protect Me, Glass Actor and Franki Chan to support. It’s Check Yo Ponytail time again, and Demonbabies is doing the video screen projections and and and…it’s going to be a damn good show, I think. I’m stoked! Black lace punky dancey DJ-y psychedelic animations holiday shit! Yes!! See you there, LA!
Happy Exmas,
M
I have such a huge crush on the Dum Dum Girls!
August 28 2010 Vancouver
The Dum Dum Girls are my crush of the year. I relate with Dee Dee and zen-ing out on my eyeliner/lipstick as a tactical operation.
LUV SO MUCH

I’m SO OBSESSED with this band! I know I JUST posted a song of theirs, like, two seconds ago! I don’t care. I’ve been listening to their record, I WILL BE, non-stop for the last 4-5 days now. Their show at the Echo with Crocodiles and Dunes was SO GOOD! The Dum Dum Girls have great energy onstage. They have tough attitudes, they can play really well, and they have some fucking great black vintage-y outfits. I love how they play with their instruments quite high, like the Beatles. Dee Dee does a bangs-bob-dance too, which is rather cute. I think I sang along to every song at their show, superfangirlstyle.

Dum Dum Girls - “It Only Takes One Night”
Dark but sunny, Ronnettes-type vocals, surf guitars and drums, grown-up angst and a whole lot of attitude. OH, and they’re babes. Dum Dum Girls. I love thee, Dee Dee.
I Will Be is one of my favorite albums of 2010, no doubt. From SubPop:
I Will Be runs just under thirty minutes with eleven songs; a short tribute to love, loss, fear, fun, and the classic pop form of the ‘60s girl groups and early punk rockers. Explaining the album’s dark-and-sunny feel, Dee Dee says, “There’s an overdramatic tone, much like a teenager’s world, but applied to the experience of getting older.
I’m seeing this band tonight, along with Crocodiles, at the Echo. I’m totally excited. I’m probably going to wear red lipstick too, because I’m such a fan girl.
